Are you having problems?

Just as I thought I could relax, I start having shitloads of crashes when playing Phenomenon 32 v1.4. Has Construct gone crazy on me again? Is the same happening to you?

God, this is depressing.

Edit: Ran the same version another 100+ times without a single crash. Is it just my system that is slowly losing it? I’ve been having some other, unrelated crashes as well. This is strange.

Edit again: It seems to be crashing only when run from Program Files, and only the first time it’s run. But I didn’t change anything in the code that could cause this? Coincidence? Construct bug? My computer going crazy?

  1. It seems pretty reliable now. I haven’t had any major issues in a while.

That said, I suspect there’s some sort of memory issue; the longer I play, the more I feel that there’s a slight lag to the game, and the more instances of minor oddness in the controls show up. It’s by no means a major issue, though; it’s about as bad as the long-term slowdown I experience in about one out of ten mainstream commercial game releases, or in any Adobe product.

  2. It doesn’t seem to have a problem on Verena’s computer either. It’s just on mine.

So maybe the patch is fine and Windows is fucked.

I haven’t had any problem with crashes. But I did notice that when I restarted the game after deleting my save file all of the map icons I unlocked are still visible/clickable.

  4. Did you delete all the files in the Phenomenon 32 Saves folder? Because there’s actually up to four of them.

I didn’t know where the file was located I had just deleted the save from the search window, but deleting all of the files in that folder removes the map icons.

Are you supposed to start about ship-height in the air when entering the Potential R&D Site? It’s not game-changing, really, but seems odd to “drop” when starting it.

    Elsewise:
    * “running out resources” (From: Anna | To: All)
    * In Anamoly, are the walls supposed to be ‘sticky’, where you can land on them (and, alternatively, have trouble jumping if you’re next to them)?
    * The area I was describing in other comments was, IIRC, “Industrial Area”.

  8. Are you supposed to start about ship-height in the air when entering the Potential R&D Site?

No, that’s an accident, but… well, you got shot there from the mothership. Yes.

    * “running out resources” (From: Anna | To: All)

The device which captures the text from the audio was damaged during the landing, you see.

    * In Anamoly, are the walls supposed to be ’sticky’, where you can land on them (and, alternatively, have trouble jumping if you’re next to them)?

That’s probably a small collision detection issue (basically the game being too detailed for its own good) but, well, let’s say it’s the result of the anomaly.

Yes, as I thought. Unfortunately, I can’t actually replicate the bug – it probably has something to do with processor speeds and such things, and is just one of those odd little Construct problems. Either that or the creature just felt the need for a change.
