Good news, everyone!

Today has been a day of excellent progress in Phenomenon 32. I still occasionally build levels that are too big (i.e. that won’t be playable on normal hardware and have to be altered), but I’m very happy with this strange post-apocalyptic world that is coming together. Will I finish the …

What did Jonas do today?

Except for going to a meeting related to the Writing Center where he works, and talking to some of his friends, and watching a surprisingly OK-ish episode of Heroes (“Company Man” – still in season one), Jonas spent most of his time working on Phenomenon 32. It was an interesting …

Heptapods and Cats

Yesterday went quite well. I only managed to finish three levels, but that’s because I decided to add/change some graphics, and because a major crash forced me to redo an entire area (I hadn’t saved after putting in all the creozoids). But I’m still happy with the results, so it’s …

Grumble

Looks like I’m not going to be finishing Phenomenon 32 in September after all. It’s not far from completion, but level-building is taking longer than anticipated, and so is remixing the music. It’s not that any of it is difficult per se, or that I’m having conceptual or design issues …

I’d say something meaningful…

…but I’m too busy implementing the player side of research right now. Later I’ll take a break and we’ll go see Up, which I hope will be good (like Wall-E) and not utter shit (like Ratatouille). Oh, and a new podcast should be up today or tomorrow.

Workworkworkwork

Boosters, an EMP Generator, Xordite Missiles, dangerous underwater plants, giant robotic turrets… all those and many more are taking up my time right now. Phenomenon 32 is in full swing, and I’m making huge amounts of progress. If the crashing doesn’t get worse (Construct gets a bit wobbly when your …

Not again…

I woke up this morning and my back hurt. It got worse as the day went on, moving upwards to include my neck, and by now I can barely raise my head. This is extremely annoying and has kept me from writing the long post about the Fantasy Filmfest that …

The Great Machine: A Nighmare trailers

As part of the process of finishing and then publicising The Great Machine: A Nightmare, I’ve re-uploaded the two trailers I’d previously released to YouTube. Some of you may have seen these before, but probably not many. I hope they manage to show that despite its severe technical limitations (due …

Grarghness

I am currently immensely frustrated by Pinnacle Studio’s refusal to recognize videos that were created by other software. Yes, I know, I should be using something better… but I have yet to find editing software with a decent GUI that is also free and runs on a PC. Actually, when …

A Hidden Story

I don’t know how many people are aware of this, but the story of Last Rose in a Desert Garden has continued through three different games. I usually don’t like to spend time explaining my own work, since I generally believe that if I could really do it justice in …
