It gets harder and harder to tell what’s objective as you look at how much people conflict with one another and how similarly they think.

Oh God, spare me. Keeping the troops there is murder of the people of Afghanistan and the troops themselves.

As Michael Moore pointed out on CNN – the Taliban are already there, they’re already in power in vast areas of the country. (Which is why you wrote “fully take over,” not just “take over.”) And, as much as we dislike them, they are natives of that country, and we are not.

We can support democracy and progress in nonviolent ways that do not involve invasions. It’s not only moral, it’s also the only way it can actually work: the more we murder innocent people, the more powerful the Taliban will become.

I just fear that the Taliban will fully take over, along with some Warlords who at the moment hold government positions. The situation will deteriorate, one way or another.

Well, what do you suppose could work for Afghanistan? I’m all for withdrawal, and it will happen sooner or later, but post-US Afghanistan won’t be any better. Should have learned from the Soviets, or the British bastards.

I’m definitely for withdrawal. If we want to make things better in Afghanistan, we could still help them raise the average citizen’s quality of life. That would help everyone and not require a military presence.

Fortunately, Obama’s chances of getting reelected are about the same as a snowman’s chance on Mercury. Most of his campaign supporters, including a few of the more vehemently loyal ones, have turned on him after it turned out that he lied about everything he promised in the campaign.

It’s kind of sad, really, to see a man do this to his own career. Then again, he was all charisma and no common sense, so it’s also kind of funny.
